Millennium Block Instructions
1. Strip piece "Zeroes" unit with your background fabric as the center strip (unshaded area) and the "number" fabric (the fabric used for the number 2000) on either side (shaded areas), as shown. Flip and press seams as usual. 2. Baste around entire "Zeroes" unit 1/8" from edge with small stitches. 3. Trim fabric and foundation to the outside dashed line. Separate into Segments 13, 17 and 21 by cutting along the two inner dashed lines. 4. Begin foundation piecing the block. Once you have sewn and pressed piece number 12 of the block, you are ready to use your first pre-pieced segment to cover piece 13 of the pattern. Use straight pins to match the dots on Segment 13 to the dots on the block for proper alignment before stitching the seam. Stitch. 5. Carefully tear away foundation from Segment 13. Fold over as with any other fabric piece, press seam open, and continue foundation piecing as usual. 6. Sew Segments 17 and 21 in their turn as you did for segment 13. | |
